(AKA cate1taylor on You Tube) is an unstable lady who is probably 30 something with a 25 year old LFA brother. She came to my attention when she started commenting on the I am Autism video by Autism Speaks and her first message was very quickly given the thumbs down by the You Tube membership. evolution? So my adult severly autistic adult brother wasn't able to talk because he just *evolved* to be non verbal? You're using autism as a "I'm special" clique. If thats all you're after go join mensa or the indigo children. I wish some "aspies" would keep in mind that severe autistics do exist and they need help. Saying "but there is nothing wrong with having autism" is true for some.. for others though they are stuck in their own cage their entire lives unable to touch the outside world. They are not just "different" they are in agony with it. It is you who has the problem with the severely autistic child stuck in his/her own cage, the child could care less. I mentioned my SEVERELY autistic brother. Why did I get negged? cuz some twats think having aspergers makes them special and superior to the rest of the human race. Grow up.. That's the sort of hate that has to stop and that was the basis of my comment. And Taylor came back with more hate; How dare you presume I haven't tried. I've been trying to get into his world for the last TWENTY FIVE YEARS. He's been trying to reach out for that long but does not have the ability to.. clearly you haven't got a clue when it comes to severe non verbal adult autistics. Stop pretending to be an expert. anyone else want to pat me on the head and try tell me some new age bull[beep!] is going to miraculously make a 25 year old non verbal severe autistic suddenly talk? If one doesn't do that, one gets the cold shoulder. That's how it works, and whilst I'm not a qualified person, I've done enough research to understand how it works in general. And unlike Taylor, I keep on learning. Going to his world will indeed stop the screaming and so forth. To go there, you have to understand what it is you are going to. As long as you don't, the effort is doomed to failure. Harry Williams made the point that there would be no miracles and he was right. Moreover, he also told Taylor to research Aspergers and HFA and all our issues, and realise that we were far more vulnerable to death statistically than LFA's - because we were treated like crap as we try to fit in because we have to (something that I disagree we should have to do). Taylor claimed she was aware of that, but her attitude conflicted with this claim - hence her instability. Two comments couldn't have been more different; I agree and I'm well aware of all those things.. maybe more research into clinical depression and other mental illnesses would prevent suicide, drugs, poverty and unemployment. but what about bullying? that continues to be a problem because our of a culture that nurtures bullying.. having aspergers does not create bullies.. might make it easier to pick a victim though. She has deliberately twisted Harry's meaning with this upon the assumption I previously mentioned. She clearly did not understand what she was dealing with. All she wants is for her brother to be cured - and that will never ever happen. Andrew started to abuse her at that point, and I'm not really surprised. Andrew is as frustrated as I am, but being younger and more brash he threw diplomacy out the window (he does the same thing to John Best Junior). And Taylor proved me right with this; You presume incorrectly. You are just saying I know nothing because you don't want people to talk about severe autism because it has a stigma. and [beep!] you for saying I know nothing about autism. I have sacrificed a great deal of my life because of the disorder.. how [beep!]ing dare you minumalise what I have gone through and say I've learnt nothing. coward. She wants her brother to be neurotypical, and that's the whole base of her "attempts" to help. A wasted sacrifice because she has not taken the time to really understand. Harry tried again to put it that the higher end of the Spectrum was being ignored in effect, and Taylor again proved her ignorance; I'm fully aware of the problems associated with HFA. as I said before I am not an NT however the problems that make AFA difficult is social anxiety, clinical depression, dispraxia etc. symptoms which need to be addressed individually as the term "aspergers" is far too vague a concept to treat and if someone has a gift for music or arts they can immediately be labelled an aspie. labelling someone with a disorder because are daydreamy and they excell at something doesn't make any sense. She tries to shift the blame for the issues those on the higher end of the Spectrum to the individual, and in effect exonerates society. A clear giveaway for someone who is of the "get over it" ilk, and struggles because she can't "get over" her brother. A perfect example of what I'm talking about in the "Depression, Anxiety and Angst" personal update. So ergo - she is NOT aware of the problems we face. Not really. It was around this time that the battle between Andrew and Taylor hit a height and both of them were as bad as each other to be honest - although Andrew was being provoked. And I had had enough; Cate, several points. 1. You accuse us of (in effect) pushing LFA's under the radar (so to speak). That's slander. The video (all of it) treats Aspies as though WE don't exist!! Where's the EQUALITY? Get it? 2. At the root (the Autistic Spectrum) HFA & LFA are NOT two different things. The same applies to Aspergers. Hence the demand for equality. 3. YOU don't know what Autism is like - no matter what part of the Spectrum. You don't understand yourself (you claimed to have traits). 4. This is important. You are frustrated. Fine - but here's the crux. Your brother can sense your frustration & anger. And he doesn't understand why. So, he freezes. He does the things you see. Because he believes you HATE him! 5. What is needed is support structures - for all parts of the Spectrum. You are in effect denying those who aren't LFA those support services with your attitude, by promoting hate and following the mission statement of Autism Speaks. Prevention & cure. Stuff that! So don't tell me I don't understand. I've seen LFA's IRL. I've given advice to parents, and some of it has been taken. Sometimes it has worked. It's all about sensory overload, and the most maligned and ignored sense of the lot. The sixth. Instinct. Think about it. One more thing - the reason Andrew abuses you is because he is angry with you and rightly so. He has every reason to verbally bash you up. You tell us to suck it up. Take your own advice on that score. She claimed to have Autistic traits - and yet in that sentence she showed the clear NT skills that defied the claim. That lack of understanding is the threat and she can't deny it. Of course, Best got involved and I won't quote what was said as the battle continued. I won't quote anything else, but I called her rightly a "hateful little witch". And I put my name to it as well just to show I wasn't scared of her legal threats. Finally, Craig/Scratcher suggested an olive branch. He went in to talk to Taylor via private messages and I opted to write this article. But then Taylor revealed she had been DXed with Multiple Sclerosis. That very quickly explained things. She didn't understand because she couldn't. And there was no way she could. I've met someone who had MS (she has long since passed away from the condition) and she was a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding in 1988. I quickly deleted my work when Craig told me this, and he also told Andrew to back off. Craig was rightly honest and told Taylor the truth - and she completely lost it! FYI. a guy named " MalCase" wrote to me saying he was sorry for the way I got treated.. then he wrote to me and said he actually RANG UP one of these ABUSERS and told him the contents of our supposedly PRIVATE conversation and actually TOLD him about my medical problems. This is the worst case of paranoia I have ever read in my life. Boy, you really do need help. You're on a one way trip to a nervous breakdown because of your clear inability to cope. Cat Taylor lives in Melbourne according to what she told Craig (Mal Case on You Tube of course) and this is important to note; our previous experiences with autism associations has not been a very positive one. She is unstable and dangerous. A great example of an Aspie Enemy, and she is a distinct threat in particular to her brother. She is heading for a nervous breakdown without a doubt and she needs help - help that she won't get voluntarily because she doesn't believe she needs it. She does. She has been driven to near insanity by the inability to cope with her brother. There isn't a cure, Cate Taylor. You are a enemy to all of us on the Spectrum. |
