Phil, you should add to the article what happened in the last 50 of the 200 fly. In case you missed it, Michaels' goggles filled up with water and he had to swim the last lap "blind". And he still beat the world record!
Tex on August 19, 2008

I'll do that when I can, Tex. Thanks for the pick up. I did type this before I heard that story and I forgot to add it.

The forum shouldn't of been banned in the first place. The name wasn't trademarked so Philip, you didn't do anything wrong
Lee on July 15, 2008

Phil have you been keeping tabs on the flaming forum?

Those flaming idiots should check themselves out! You're always on the front line and we all know it! Maybe we should nominate that whole forum instead of Gareth!
Scratcher on July 18, 2008

I've been checking in, Craig. That thread would have been locked by now if the place had a competent admin! Bullboxer is crying like a baby. As for the frontlines - you know, even a weary general like Macarthur or Patton took a break and let his men get their hands dirty. I don't see them being labelled cowards! And I only stepped back once and for one night only!

As for getting laid! Maltipoo has much bigger issues with that than I do! In fact I'd classify a number of them in that category! It's not worth even commenting on and Lee would agree with that!
Timelord on July 18, 2008

You should get his forum shut off, Time! See how he (beep!)ing likes it!
Syncompac on July 19, 2008

As much as he may deserve it, Syncompac, I don't agree. As long as other methods are possible.
Mr.Fix-It on July 19, 2008

Philip, have you examined the Terms of Service of the host of the website concerned?
Wally on July 20, 2008

Just what I was thinking, Wally.
Tex on July 22, 2008

I have - it was very ambiguous unfortunately. I sent an email making queries and I haven't received a reply.
Timelord on July 23, 2008

Correction! I got one and I'm following up on it. Not looking great though (as usual).
Timelord on July 23, 2008

Yeah some providers lay stuff out like that to leave it open to interpretation. Easier to defend themselves that way.
Tex on July 24, 2008

--------------

The thread has been locked, Phil! And well said about Macarthur and Patton!
Scratcher on July 21, 2008

I saw that, Craig, but there's another problem now. I'll talk about it when it's dealt with.
Timelord on July 21, 2008

It's been dealt with. A screenshot was taken from the Idiot of the Month page when it was vandalised - and I reported it for the (yes) DMCA breach! It has been removed.
Timelord on July 23, 2008

Well done, Phil!
Eagle Eye on July 23, 2008

An honest DMCA, Phil? Heh!

It's getting too close to Christmas, and something like this happens. That's horrible at this time of year. This guy is going to make a terrible Christmas for the families of the victims. It's NOT being famous taking the lives of innocent people with you. Despite him being suicidal, that was no excuse to massacre innocent people. At least he's no longer around to hurt anybody else
Lee on December 6, 2007

I'll have to add the Christmas factor to the article if I remember.
Timelord on December 6, 2007

The problem is... he IS famous now. He's on this wiki-site. His name is everywhere. His picture is everywhere. He's famous (or infamous, but these days there is absolutely no difference). And, unfortunately, this site has helped contribute to that in its own small way... Sorry, guys.
Coach on December 8, 2007

I do not agree, Coach. There is a difference between famous and infamous. Infamous people deserve to be exposed for what they are even in death. Robert Hawkins is no Ned Kelly.
Mr.Fix-It on December 9, 2007

I believe both of you have a good argument. It is true that famous and infamous are not the same. Also, it is folly to move the blame from the person to the media. It understates the act's sheer foolishness. However I do take issue with the reference to Ned Kelly, and it is true that he has gained notoriety from his actions.
Wally on December 9, 2007

Before this gets out of hand.....

Coach - the point is that the media wouldn't have had a story if Robert Hawkins wasn't an idiot. Because nothing would have happened and eight people (apparently it's nine now) would still be alive. And as Lee said spending Christmas with their families.

Oh Philip, this is wonderful! I'm going to show this to my friends tomorrow! This girl has done a terrific job!
Twinkles on August 9, 2007

The sarcasm and irony is pouring from this show. Philip, I don't know if you noticed, but the girl's eyes aren't exactly steady. What is that? I've never seen it before.
Mr.Fix-It on August 11, 2007

That's an example of poor eye contact, Bill. That's an Aspie trait. I have a tendency to do that myself although I do try to focus.
Timelord on August 13, 2007

Sadly, this is what is being encouraged by the social workers who feel the need to allow children to do whatever they want without recourse. They are given rights, but not responsibilities.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the graphics, it is actually a PG-rated game as well.

And not a thing is going to change this guy's mind - not seeing victims, listening to victims, etc - short of being shot himself.

He is so very stereotypical of the egocentric delinquints the current social worker fed system is producing. And no teacher, no parent, no authority figure is going to override as long as the overall authority remains with the people who matter the least.
Coach on May 18, 2007

I know you've touched on social workers before, Coach (on the IPB forum I think), but I blame the Yank in this moron. If you want to go looking for the wrong kind of social workers - I think you'll find the majority of them are there and are a by product of this fallacy called "complete freedom". Which is ending up hurting others, but of course the freedom fighters don't want to hear that!

I said this when you brought it up on the old forum. Social workers need to be regulated. They need a code of conduct so that their influence with those under the age of 18 is inherently muted and the parents get a say in matters. Give the social workers the ability to do what they should be doing - making a balanced judgment for the family as a whole and not leaning almost 100 percent towards the child no matter what. Kids lie. It's in their nature. Anyone who says they didn't lie when they were that age is lying.
Timelord on May 18, 2007

That's not true, Phil! I never flaming lied when I was a kid! *evil grin*
Scratcher on May 22, 2007

The lie detector is buzzing, Craig! LMAO!
Timelord on May 22, 2007

What sort of sick person is this anyway?

a member of E.D?
Flardox on February 29, 2008

Probably not, Flardox, but then again - these sorts of sickos would love ED. If all the sickos of the world were active members there the membership would be ten times what it actually is.
Timelord on February 29, 2008

what is the link to this guy's website?

my friend may know what to do
Flardox on March 11, 2008

Oh - good question, Flardox! I never did look it up because I wasn't interested, and because it had been ordered offline. I did a search and it went back up in June - googumproduce.com. I just checked and it's still there now.

On your friend, any news on that favour I asked? Respond in PM on either AFF (I'm back there now) or Wrong Planet.
Timelord on March 12, 2008

I'm not sure haven't asked him for a little while as he has been very busy oh by the way is the entire site this guy's? and (i'm not sure how to tell) is the site coded with java?
Flardox on March 15, 2008

As far as I know the site is his. And I'm not sure how to tell if a site is coded with java or not either to be honest!
Timelord on March 16, 2008

I agree. Having been a coach of children for a long time, I have seen more than my fair share of "ADHD" children. While some had genuine problems, the majority we found on Ritalin were not. How did we find this? Because they were not "ADD" whilst doing sport.

Now, the first time I came across this was with my youngest sister. So my mum, our GP and a friend of his at Flinders Uni looked into it. At their behest, we tried the exclusion diet.

It worked so well my sister went on to win a Pan-Pacific Title and a US National Title.

So, when applied properly, it seems to work in many cases.

What does it involve? It involves food allergy. And it seems to involve attention-seeking behaviours.

In some cases it also seems to involve, as Phil pointed out, poor discipline by parents.

And, through this, we helped a parent have her child diagnosed as having AS, as the exclusion diet made no differnece, so we had to look for other patterns for the behaviour. Now that I am a teacher, and know more about AS, I can see subtle differences between "ADHD" children and those with a genuine Autism spectrum disorder (using that term advisedly).

Of course, many disagree, and I expect to receive my fair share of flaming for my views (as I have in the past), but that the oversubscription of Ritalin has finally been brought officially to the public eye I feel can only be a good thing.

Because, and here's the worry... Humans develop immunities to drugs... even Ritalin...

And that's my opinion.
Coach on April 27, 2007

As most members here are friends of mine and tolerant of AS, Coach, I doubt you'll get flamed on this Wiki. Interesting - when you consider that ADD and ADHD are considered part of the spectrum even though they are distinct disorders (the genuine articles of course). Diet probably has the best effect in ADD and ADHD compared to AS and classic Autism, and your food allergy/reaction point is spot on. I might just add that to this article when I have a chance.

And good point about the immunity to drugs - especially if over prescribed, and incorrectly at that! I've always been against Ritalin being added to the PBS for this reason.
