MOVING AGAIN! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
This really is too much! Today we received formal notice to vacate because the landlord has sold the house, and the new owners want the property for themselves. This angers me because when we moved in here back in September 2005, the landlord told us we could stay for as long as we like. So much for that! I'm pretty sure I know why this has happened. The rates went up, and the last rent rise was apparently put down to that fact. I only accepted the rise because we had two homes built next door to us, so the market rent could well have gone up. But I also told the agent that if he tried for another one it would be opposed. Also a few repairs needed to be done, and a couple still haven't been attended to. He could also have been a whiner about the money that needed to be spent on that. We already had informal notice, and we've been looking for a place to move to for the last week or so. At the moment it looks likely that we may be moving to Bendigo rather than Ballarat because there appear to be more options in Bendigo that we can afford. We aren't staying in Ballan - that's a guarantee because there are no affordable options here. I was set for a number of updates on this Wiki, including the elimination of a few black links, some fix ups and a new game - but they are now on hold. The wrestling reports may be affected - they are definitely being done at 5.30 instead of 3.30 as usual from now until the move is done, and it's possible that a few may not be done at all. The project work at the State Library may also be affected - certainly long term if we end up in Bendigo. Not only that - any legal work I'm engaged in has to be placed on hold. Since 1991 I have moved house 11 times (including the move to Canberra which Lee wasn't a part of), and the longest we've been in one place is four years in Mitcham (August 1992 to September 1996). We've been on the Housing Commission list since 2002 when Lee was retrenched, but there are people who have been on the list since 1995 who haven't been housed yet. This lack of stability on the home front is infuriating to say the least!! ADDITION BY LEE I agree. There just seems to be no stability as we never know long we're going to be in a particular for - it gets to the stage where you think 'how long we going to be in this place this time', every time we move. It's also time consuming when you have keep packing. We've been married 15 years and we can't even stay in one place as long as that. When we moved here from the last place we were at, there were some boxes that we didn't unpack, so that will make it a tad easier. Hopefully, we'll get something soon and we hope that it'll be something long term :( UPDATE JANUARY 21 PHEW!! We got a place today, so at least we don't have to worry about where we will be going - for now! I wonder how long we'll be at this place! Mind you, it's a unit in a bunch so hopefully even if the landlord sells it will remain an investment property. After all, the agent we are going through is the body corporate for the block. It's in Ballarat (I'm not going to be more detailed than that for obvious reasons). I'll contact those who have our current details privately once I know what our new phone number is. ADDITION BY LEE That was good news - now we don't need to go back to square one to start looking for places and having to put more applications in |
