This has been a long time coming!

I started work on this site in May 2008. I started with a frame design consisting of three parts - the header, the left hand side and the main page. I went through a few alterations, before deciding instead to go with this design. It has been borrowed from the layout of the VCFL league websites, but that's where the comparison ends.

The hardest job early on was in fact not the website, but my computer screen. It was constantly going sepia and I've been working mostly on my laptop - which didn't have Front Page on it. I browsed for a free substitute and eventually decided on Page Breeze. It had some problems though, like developing gaps to the point that it froze the program and I had to end it and then retry it. It took me awhile to figure out what the problem was.

I also had to reload pages at times after they inexplicably decided to change to another page in the same folder. That was frustrating to say the least!

The opening date underwent several changes, including early July, a few dates in August, the beginning of September, the beginning of October, mid October and finally October 20.

The other work that needed to be done was the communication side. I considered the installation of a Wiki on this domain, and also installing a forum on it as well. But I couldn't get enough information on either so it was back to external forums. After the poor security of mixing groups up on the the PHP and IPB forums, I decided on the batch of forums we have here now - and with their improved security I went back to Pro Boards. I considered Ning after Autism Speaks shifted to it but again I couldn't get enough information.

And then there was the master identification plan - which worked brilliantly thanks to a fellow here in Ballarat named Sean Fraser. Under the bogus name of Barry Kilmany and the screen name of Loony Lord, Sean played the role of information collector through a forum called "The Truth about Timelord". The elaborate plan was two fold, but only one aspect concerned this website - and that was the collection of IP addresses to deny from this domain. I may need to do something similar in the future for the purpose of updating that information, but it would have to be done differently.

So along with the main website on the domain here, we have the five forums on Pro Boards - the three member boards, the contact board and the Fore Sam board.

It's been a long job, with the court case against Paris Tenana getting in the way somewhat before the success of it came through. But it's up now and whilst there's still a lot to do (as there was with the Wiki) at least now I don't have to worry about the Wiki being interfered with. And things in general are getting back under control.
